It takes two to tango

I want a dog. “You are crazy”. I know people who have one even living in a flat. “I do not think it is a good idea”. But. “We do not have time”. Even though I sounded like a spoiled child, I kept insisting. Discussions took place. However, I would do nothing without a compromise. We were adults and engaged. So, it would be a family decision.

We did not even have time. Both in their early twenties, working was an obsession. I had a new job. I abandoned journalism. I traded the profession for money. Furthermore, it was quite an, I would say, interesting experience. A daily adventure. I learnt a lot. I travelled a lot. And I got frustrated a lot.

The adventure is over. In the middle of this hangover, Facebook shows me a puppy. The owner needed to move, and she could not take the small one along. It is time. I called. In the lobby, there was I, the puppy, and the “parents”. While the doorman said, “this will not end up well”, I would wait until my fiancé arrived. Of course, he knew nothing.

Especially on this day, he took a while longer to come home. The parents, impatient to resolve the situation, wanted to leave. Nearby there is a veterinary surgeon. Can I go with it there? Of course, they replied, a little scared. So, I gained some more time and stayed away from my unlucky doorman. “He will not like this, Ms. Vivianne”.

The vet said the dog had mild ear inflammation. “Nothing serious”. Since she also did not examine thoroughly. “Very clever. It will grow almost nothing”. Now I had more arguments. I returned. The garage door opens. “It is now,” said the doorman. “Good afternoon, is everything already settled?”, said my fiancé, picking up the puppy. We said goodbye to the old parents and went home. We had two to tango!
